A Post That Exists

I think I’m taking this too seriously. The whole point of this blog was to write and put stuff out into the world. I went in with the idea that this was a place where I could post less than perfect work in the pursuit of developing skills and a “voice” that I could use in the future but once I let myself lapse for a few moths it got harder and harder to get back into it because nothing I wrote felt “good” enough to post. That was stupid and I’m gonna post the one I’ve had in my drafts for like a month but I still feel like I need a warm up so this one’s gonna be short, random, and hopefully kind of dumb.

Mexican Lasagna

This is also a recipe blog.

Flour TortillasCan of Enchilada Sauce
~1lb Ground beef (or other ground protein)Can of Refried Beans
Can of CornOne Chopped Onion
Can of Black BeansShredded Cheese
  • Preheat the oven to 350
  • Cook onions until translucent
  • Add in and brown off ground beef
  • Dump all canned stuff(corn black beans, Enchilada sauce, refried beans) in and combine
  • Grease cooking dish, I use a small Corningware casserole thing but these proportions also fit in a 9×13 casserole dish and I’ve even used a muffin tin, so just make sure its greased and oven safe and you’ll be fine
  • Line bottom with tortillas, add the mixture on top of those, and then top it with the cheese
  • repeat the last step until the dish is full
  • Cover, with foil or a lid) bake for 45 minutes to an hour depending on dish size and shape
  • Take off covering and bake for another 10 minutes
  • let cool and eat

What’s Making Me Happy

This is an idea that I straight up stole from NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour. They have every guest and the hosts bring in some piece of media that makin them happy that week. I love the show, I’ve gotten some good recommendations from the segment, and I like the concept. I’ve been doing my own version as a writing/journaling warm up so it feels like a good fit to put it in this post. There’s really no rules its just the first five things that I think of that made me happy since the last time I did one.

1. I saw my friends this last weekend

I got to spend the weekend with friends that live across the state from me and it was really nice. With moving and a new city and job and all that it was really nice to hang out with some of my favorite people. Their new town (towns) is great, you can do laps in their weirdly laid out apartment, and it was good to catch up. It’s still kind of weird not seeing them all the time and while we talk to each other all the time through social media and stuff it’s still great to all be in the same room just hanging out.

2.How We Survive (Podcast)

I just started this one and its really good. I’m going in order and in the first season they talk about electrification as an alternative to fossil fuels, the climate impacts of electrification, and all of the different actors involved.

3.Solitaire

Its just a good game. I’m trying to be on my phone less and solitaire is a good way to keep my hands and brain occupied but not like too much.

4.Bag

I got a bag at a vintage shop that perfectly fits two books, my headphones, a multitool, a deck of cards, and a snack. It’ great and probably fashionable in that like vaguely goofy kind of way.

5. Spout Lore (Podcast)

I listen to an excessive amount of podcasts so they’re on this WWMH list a lot. Spout Lore is great, its about friends adventuring in a world that the players are actively involved in creating. It is very goofy, with a strange but interesting world building and characters/players that I really like.

That’s It

Blog done. Thank you for reading this. Next one will be shoved into your inbox soon (probably),
